In 1997, Honda presented the CB50 Dream, a concentrate of technology and brand history.

The CB50 Dream commemorates the CR110, introduced by Honda in the 50cc Grand Prix in 1962. With its 4-stroke single cylinder, Honda struggled to outclass the competition equipped with 2-stroke engines: Suzuki, Kreidler, Derbi.

The 1962 CR110 is equipped with a 4-valve cylinder head and two overhead camshafts. It has an eight-speed gearbox (quickly replaced by a ten-speed gearbox). The 4-stroke mono develops 8.5 HP at 13,500 rpm. Its top speed is 130 km/h. Its dry weight of 61 kg. The CR110 won its first Grand Prix at the end of the season, in Finland, in the hands of Swiss driver Luigi Taveri. Honda will still have to wait until 1965 to win the title with the CR115, equipped with a twin-cylinder engine.

But the CR110 and its descendants made an impression.

By launching its CB50 Dream at the end of the 90s, Honda plays on velvet and maintains the fervor of its fans.

Marketed in 1998 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the brand, the CB50 Dream uses the same engine architecture as its illustrious predecessor of the sixties, the RC110 - despite its two misleading chrome exhaust pipes. Its power is 7 HP at 13,500 rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox. Its dry weight is 71 kg.

The "modern" CB50 Dream is equipped with two disc brakes - one front, one rear, which is obviously unusual on this type of displacement. The 1962 CR110 featured drum brakes.

In France, the CB50 Dream was to represent the brand's technological showcase, so dealerships were "strongly encouraged" to leave them on display.

this motorcycle was imported up to 49 copies,

Not one more ... which makes it an absolute rarity!
